How to 3D print a medieval ship?

In the winter of 2021, maritime archaeologists from the Viking Ship Museum made a remarkable discovery on the seabed of The Sound. In the shipping channel known as Svælget, between Amager and Saltholm, the remains of an enormous medieval cog emerged ? now known as Svælget 2, the largest cog ever documented. In this film, we take a closer look at the work with 3D-printed models of the shipwreck. We follow material and process choices, workflows and deliveries, and see the printed components take shape at the supplier. Their high level of precision and detail is essential for replicating the physical properties of the original planks and for reconstructing the ship as accurately as possible. This film is the second part of the series on the reconstruction of Svælget 2.
